Introduction

Fire Fighting Foam is a highly efficient extinguishing agent consisting of water, foaming agent and air. The extinguishing foam uses the characteristics like cooling, suffocating, separating covering, restraining and displacing. Foam extinguishing systems are used for Class A and Class B fires of solid and flammable liquid substances.
Volcano manufactures a wide range of equipment for portable, mobile, fixed and monitor application of fire fighting foam. A comprehensive range of foam proportioning and delivery devices for protection of high risk applications such as storage tanks at oil refineries, petrochemical complexes, chemical industries and warehouses is a speciality of Volcano.

Foam Chambers

Volcano range of foam chambers are air aspirating devices used for the protection of fixed roof flammable liquid storage tanks. This method consists of one or more foam chamber installed on the shell of the tank just below the roof joint. A foam solution pipe extends from the proportioning source outside the dike wall to the foam maker located upstream of the chamber. Foam Chambers are widely used with the line proportioner and bladder tank/balanced pressure pump in low expansion foam system defined by NFPA 11.

Bladder Tanks

Volcano Bladder Tank Proportioning System is designed to inject foam concentrate into a suitable water supply and automatically proportion foam concentrate over a wide range of flows and pressures. Bladder tank is a steel pressure vessel with internal polymer bag containing foam concentrate. Bladder tank systems offer low system pressure drop without the need for external power supply.
Bladder Tanks provide a dependable and cost-effective foam fire protection for a variety of flammable/combustible hazard areas. When the tank is in operation, water is applied to the outside surface of the bladder and subsequently displaces the foam concentrate, which is contained inside the bladder, which then makes its way to the proportioning device and then is injected into the water stream.
Bladder Tank Applications: Fuel Storage Tanks and Bunds / Dikes, Refineries and Petrochemical Installations, Helicopter Landing Areas, Jetties, Chemical Plants, Tanker Loading Bays, Offshore Oil Rigs.

Line Proportioners

Volcano Line Proportioner offers a simple, accurate method of proportioning when the water supply pressure is reasonably high. Each proportioner is designed for a set water pressure. However, higher or lower inlet pressure results in an increase or decrease in water flow with a change in proportioning.
All line proportioners are designed for a minimum pressure differential of approximately 35% of the inlet pressure between the inlet and outlet to operate correctly.

Foam Sprinkler Heads

Volcano foam sprinkler heads mounted within the roof structure provide an even distribution of foam assuring fast flame knock down and fire control. They also provide cooling to the structure and protection from heat radiation. Spray systems employing foam sprinklers have great utility in fire protection of aircraft hangars, chemical process areas, petroleum loading racks, terminals, refineries and flammable liquid storage areas.

Pressure Proportioners

Volcano Pressure Proportioner is used to produce constant preset foam solution in pressure proportioning systems. It is designed to inject automatically the correct quantity of foam concentrate into a water stream over a wide flow rates by balancing the pressure of the foam concentrate with that of the water supply.

Rim Seal Pourers

Volcano Rim Seal Pourers are designed to deliver a fully aspirated foam directly to the annular seal area of open top floating roof storage tanks for fire extinguishment. It helps to apply the foam as gently as possible to the tank wall while reducing the exposure of the foam to wind effects. Fully aspirated foam provides the most effective performance for all types of foam concentrates.

Tank Cooling Nozzles

Volcano water sprinkler is a medium velocity sprinkler designed for use in tank cooling systems and other structural cooling applications, including ship super structure protection. Foam/water sprinklers provide cooling of tank shells as a measure of fire protection close to the tank base.
