Introduction

Volcano KFS Series is a pre-engineered, fixed automatic fire suppression system developed specifically for improved fire protection of commercial and institutional restaurant cooking appliances, exhaust hoods and ducts.
Volcano kitchen system guards against :
Property damage
Lost profit due to business interruptions
Potential injury of personnel
Volcano kitchen system assures:
Quick fire detection and suppression
24-hour, continual flre protection
More coverage of wet chemical on the appliance perimeter
Suppresses fires and prevents reflash

Corner Pulley

Used for every change in direction in detection line, gas valve and remote pull station line Can be installed in high or low temperature applications
Used in and out of exhaust hood
Provided with stainless steel ball bearing corner pulley for friction-free movement
Compression conduit connections are used, which causes no cable interference, allowing friction-free operation Bends or offsets shall not be used
Fifty corner pulleys are allowed in the detection line when using mechanical control head and forty corner pulleys are allowed when using the gas cartridge control head
Fifteen comer pulleys are allowed between multiple control heads
Twenty-five corner pulleys are allowed for mechanical gas valve connection
Only 7x7 strand stainless steel cable may be used with corner pulley

Fusible Link

Installed in the detection line to detect the fire hazard
The temperature rating of the fusible link is 360°F/182°C
Can be dated for the easy verification of last link replacement date
Compact design size facilitates less airflow interruption and minimizes grease collection in hood
Maximum load rating of 45 Ibs.

Mechanical Control Box

Mechanical Control Box
Application:
To actuate a single cylinder or multiple cylinders, regardless of their size
Any one of the following three actions will actuate the cylinder through mechanical control box
1. Fusible link operation
2. Pull pin removal from the control box
3. Pull pin removal from the remote manual release
Mechanical control box can also be used to actuate mechanical gas valve and single (SPDT) or double (DPDT) pole microswitches, if they are installed in the system
For initial setup and maintenance of the mechanical control box, a special cocking tool is required

Mechanical Gas Valve

Used to turn off gas flow to the protected appliances automatically
Suitable for natural or LP gas appliances
Available sizes from °" to 3"
Can be operated either directly from the control head enclosure by the use of cable, corner pulleys and conduit or through the optional use for a pneumatic release installed in the discharge piping
There is no maximum number of gas valves which can be used in a single system. However, when using more than one, each gas valve requires a separate pneumatic release for operation
A maximum of twenty pneumatic releases may be used in a single Volcano system
Two gas valves cannot be operated for a single pneumatic release
